I just completed this Oniria kit representing Lakota Sioux warriors as they gather for battle against Custer's troops in 1876. I have also included photos of an older companion kit of Lakota warriors just after the battle, also by Oniria, for those who might have missed my posting back in 2019.
Just a little information on the title "Hoka Hey!". Simply put, Hoka Hey is a Lakota word meaning “Let's go!” or “Let's do it!” expressed with courage and confidence in the face of great odds.
Derived from the language of the Lakota Sioux tribe of North America. The saying became famous when Lakota Sioux leader Crazy Horse, preparing to attack Custer's troops, famously exhorted his troops, "Hoka Hey, today is a good day to die!" Which meant something like "Let's go men, today is a good day to die!" He wanted his men to know he was ready to go without hesitation and that even if they died, life would not be missed.
The kit is 36mm metal and well sculpted. It was fun to paint and allows for a lot of colorful variations.
Thanks for looking,
Ken
