Just caught up through the whole thread, a really good figure painted to perfection and the basing ground work is astonishing. I found it very informative seeing all the progress in a single read, I hope I can use what I've learnt on my next paint job.

Cheers Simon

What an incredibly exciting journey. Thanks for your SBS. Really looking forward to the final step: seeing the centurion and the base together.

Absolutely wonderful finish, paint and presentation. If that did not take a 'Gold' in a major competition then I don't know what would. This has been a most enjoyable 'follow along' for us mere painting mortals.

Thanks You!

Gary

How I take the final photos

I bring a chair near to my desk
Add an A3 black paper for background which I spray with primer to make it more interesting
I take the photos with a dslr and my phone

The settings on the phone was auto the only thing I do was to drop down the exposure - 2

Brilliant piece Snik, that really is a Gold medal worthy figure. Love the photo studio set up, what lights do you use because I find mine just wash the colour right out.

Cheers Simon

two lights are enough no need 4
check the white balance to be auto

Yeah, I discovered a long time ago I can't use a. camera, I even got flats out of focus. Easier with the phone but truth be told this is the first time I've had a smart phone, ever, it frustrates the he'll out of me. Best bet I reckon is bite the bullet and get one of my kids to teach me. I'll have a play though, I am currently stuck at Sussex Uni while my youngest attends an open day for doing his masters, so I have 3 to 4 hours to kill.
