Folks-

Happy New Year and pls let me share the figure I completed yesterday.

My effort at ground work needs to be improved. My blues improved on this piece but not totally satisfied.

I spilled epoxy on the sword arm wrist and it is visible in the photo's. I tried to touch up with primer and flesh but still noticeable

. The only thing I could do was pull off and strip. I'll just take it as a lesson learned..

Very nice painting, Keith. The eyes looks particularly good in the photos. I might have done more shading and highlighting on the belt and cross-strap over his torso.

Keith it is a beautiful figurine with a little stiff stature,one likes or one does not like.About the painting I am not a specialist , you do a good job but if you allow me, it seems to me that on the top of the gaiters one guesses white.Is this a dry-brushing completely not finished?On the top of the right hand there is small.glossy thin line (adhesive?)

And then in my opinion,you could more dirtying the shoes, the gaiters as well as the trousers.

Good to see the finished project.
Looks pretty good however I know that photos do not say it all.
I reckon it would be better in the flesh. The blue looks okay to me.
The mix of worn and new leather is a good touch.
Watch the old glue. I was strying to glue someting together the other day with superglue remover and was wondering why it was running everwhere and would not stick. You have got to laugh. After the bit fell to the floor a couple of time I had a "light bulb" moment, it lit up. Wow!
We all learn. Best part of the hobby I say.

Steven - Re: straps. Good point on the straps. I was going for patent leather on the Sam Browne. :lol: I think I may go back and touch up or add a bit of diluted acrylic gloss to bring up the shine. Thanks!

Georges - I appreciate your specific critiques. I will indeed go back and touch up the front top of the gaiters as you mention. I believe I over highlighted that!
Yes. You are right on the expoxy on the wrist. I tried to re prime and paint but I am afraid it is pretty obvious. I just did not have the heart to strip..
Re: dirtying gaiters. I was going for a light dusting on the shoes only. So that will likely stay the same :lol: Merci!

Rod - I am glad that you checked in and gave your comments. You are right on on the blues. I found that the highs really faded after they dried. I'll have to paint with a heavier hand next time. Re: epoxy stuff. This is one of the reasons I try to complete the construction before painting! :lol:

Keith, nice figure, you did a nice job, I particularly like the way you painted the black leather on the holster; the only thing I would do a little different is maybe a few more high lights and shadows, what do you think?

Keith, brush a little Dull Coat or Vallejo flat varnish over the glue spots. That should kill the reflection and make it not as noticeable.

Keith, Great job on the figure. When you go to add a shine to the leather equipment, I would not give it any more than a "sheen". Just my two cents.~Gary

Johan - I posted the blue mix in the earlier thread for this figure.

Jason - I am working on the older Larocca Pegaso 54 mm Grand Master Teutonic Order and started the clean up on the Andrea 90 mm Apres la Revolution. Too many projects at one time makes my head hurt.
