The following is my current bench project. Its based on the plate from McBride in the Vikings Osprey book. Here's a pic after I layed down some base colors.

Thanks Uruk, I have had a copy of this book for over 15yrs as it was one of my 1st books on vikings. I have always liked this plate, its my 2nd next to plate E in this book. I was fortunate to come across a signed litho/cell 26/300 of the Battle of Svoldr 36x24 about 10yrs ago. I would love to get a hold of one for this plate too... only dreaming. For those unfamiliar w/ the plate here's another pic with the full plate in the background.

Marc

I'm actually using a fourth figure along w/ a background. The project was on hold as I was trying to order a backdrop from Tiger Productions but they are in the process of moving and are closed for six months. Then ordered one from Fontegris medieval II base but as of today still not here. So yesterday I broke out my daughters stepping stone kits and made my own. I need some input from you guys should I leave it just as is w/ two walls or should I add a smaller 3rd wall on the right hand side kinda like a step wall gradually getting lower towards the front.

Very nice little vignette there David. Personally I would leave the walls as they are now. Adding something else on the right side will hide a lot of stuff from the figures. It looks great to me as it is.

Hi David

Nice looking vignette are you making. And I agree with the others keep it like this.
Looking forward to see your next steps.\
Keep us posted.

Greetings Dick ;)

David, Your vignette seems to be coming along. Is it going to be displayed on an open base or inside a shadowbox? Continue to post your progress as time allows.~Gary

I wouldn't add any more walls. I would however rotate the whole composition about 20 degrees CW. This would help maintain the illusion that there is more beyond the wall. This would also help the viewer focus on the group instead just those figures in the foreground.

Two walls it is then, thanks for everyone's input... Janne if you follow the link in my signature to my gallery it will show you more pics of this Vignette you are referring to as I had ordered/painted it the same time it came out. Like I said before its one of favorites.

The bases finally arrived and I chose to go with 4x3 1/4 which allowed me to proceed, in which I spent all day retrofitting the pieces I had. In hind site should have started over from scratch, but all done now at 1:30am. Will start painting this base in the morning.

Kinda sorta.. The climbing branches is just some scotch brite pad that I've painted brown and shreded. Ive had the same large pad for over 10yrs I just tear little pieces off now and then. The Hudson Allen kit is probally just the same as I bought the little leaves from them sold as forest litter.
