Here are a few in progress shots of a new bust I'm sculpting. You may recall, the Artist Preservation Group held a raffle drawing at the first APG show in Gettysburg in August. The winner of that drawing won their choice of an original 200mm bust sculpted by my of a subject of the winner's choosing. Randy Myers was the winner of the raffle and he selected this subject. I'm glad to be working on this as it's developed into more of a collaborative project as Randy has chosen to paint the piece when it's finished. I thought you all might like to have a peek at the progress so far. With no definitive, period pictures to be found, I've based the face on a few pics of Santa Ana in his later years along with some influence from a few portrait paintings of the man in his prime. The result is where I am now. I'm really enjoying this one and really look forward to the end result. Thanks for looking and thanks to Randy for his feedback and input on the piece. For anyone interested, we'll be offering another bust sculpt raffle at the next APG show next year. Enough blabbing...here are some pics....
