This is a 1/35 scale conversion from Dragon kit (Operation Barbarosa), man drinking from water bottle.
I have a series of photos from my Militaria book on the 2nd Pz. div. in Normandy, these soldiers walking down a dirt road, and they're all loaded with all this gear. One soldier in particular has a Panzerfaust, with a handgrenade strapped to his shovel, and is also carrying two Panzershreck shells strapped with some rope hanging over his shoulder. I thought this would be cool to model.
The modeling involves shaving down the insides of the lower torso and inner sides of his legs, creating more of a natural less static stride/pose, resculpting some of the folds. lead foil straps, shoulder boards, sculpted the cuffsand reworked the left hand. Base coated in acrylics and finished in oils.

Thanks for looking!

Jim

Great stuff, I'm a big fan of your single figure vignettes. Again, great work on the textures and I love the torn elbow blouse detail.

Amazing job,
Mario

Very cool Jim. Just watch the upper highlights on the seam of the trousers and the boots. They look a bit "bright" to me. Otherwise its a fantastic bit of conversion and painting.

Hey Jim, very beautiful conversion , like a lot the painting especially the texture , and as usual very cool groundwork (y)

cheers

Jim, another great conversion, like it.(y)

Stephano is that pic a conversion of Herbie to the darkside :)

Cheers Ken

Jim:

Your attention to detail is just marvelous. You Sir, are a true artist. I
noticed even a slight worn place in the right elbow of the uniform. I would
love to see this figure in real time. . . . but I would probably start sucking
my thumb because of a strong sense of inadequacy! :(:(

Whew, I had to look that inadequacy woid up in my Kangaroo Pocket sized
dictionary, for the correct spelling . . . :)

Super job,

rick

HEY! Him's a NAZI! LOL!
Jim, great looking figure! folks believe me, Jim's work looks 1000% better in real life than here on PF!
You still need to work on your photography.
Send me a few images of this guy (RAW) or large jpg and let's see if I can help you out a little.

Mario- Thanks again for the great comments. I'm very glad you like my work. Very inspiring!
Chris- Aren't the schreck shells great? How about the manufacturers black #'s on them. I little secret, they're N scale, water slide decals by Micro scale! I believe the #'s are 4322.
Tony- WHAT?! TOO BRIGHT?! I think you're absolutely right! Next time I'll tone down the highlights. Thanks for the honest feedback. Appreciate the compliments too!
Marc- Thanks Marc for the nice compliment!
Carl- Thank you too for the kind words!

Rick- Thanks so much for the truly great feed back! You're a great artist too! Real time? If you let me know if you're going to Tulsa this year, I'll bring it down for you and any other pieces you want to see, let me know! It's a great show by the way! All the modelling greats will be there!
Panzer (Mrosko)- What can I say, Gerry had great uniforms! Anyway, thanks Chris for the Kudos. You are and always have been a great inspiration to me in this hobby! Keep doing what you're doing and never stop!
