Oh man, this isn't good to hear. We'll probably be losing a very good store over this. The poor economy doesn't make what he did any less wrong. At least he has been paying his debt off voluntarily.

What a Plank, really the wrong person to pick on, probably the richest Producer/Director on the planet and a collector to boot.

I suppose the thought was,.... “Well he does have plenty of money”, but he also has enough to get the best lawyers involved .... no win situation really.

Can’t do the time, Don’t do the crime.....

Integrity is too important to mess with, especially for online business.

Even if he avoids jail, that's gotta be a fatal blow. There are other ways to protect your employees and business than falsely charging $190,000. Who's to say any other transactions were honest?

Wow. That is just so wrong. The sad fact is it hurts everyone who sells miniatures. Anything that makes a customer think twice about buying something from an on-line seller is bad for all of us. I just reread the stories and this is not the first time he has done it. Honestly I am flabbergasted. No one likes to be a bad guy but it sounds like he should have let a few employees go before doing this.

Peter Jackson became aware of the fraud in 2007 and it is just becoming news now four years later???? Something is missing in this story. Like what transpired over the last four years and how long had he been defrauding before Jackson found out.

I wonder if he bilked other accounts too?

The story said he had been convicted of the same crime before this.
"After he was contacted by federal officials in 2009, he admitted to the crime, similar to one for which he was convicted in 1993. Jackson was fully reimbursed for the losses."
The time line seems off in a number of ways. One story says he became aware of it in 2008, 2009. So not sure why we are hearing about it now. It may have popped up on the radar because of the sentencing court date, and he fact that Peter Jackson's name was involved in that announcement.

Crap... I do most of my online shopping at MTS. Always used a CC and had good service. Not so sure I want to continue that now.

If he was convicted of credit card fraud before how is that the credit card companies allowed him to handle their cards after that? Since they have to pay you would think they would have a little more due diligence for their own sake.

What a wacky world.

We've beaten this to death over at the Treefrog Toy Soldier Forum.

Jeff is probably right, in that the story appears to have gotten new legs now because of the specific date arriving in the judicial process.

It is shocking, of course.

My thought was that we probably won't see Berry at our show this year.

Prost!

I have been doing searches for info on what his sentence was. Every time I did I would find some little board were guys would say I had problems with my card after dealing with him. So I believe he had more then just the one big fish on his line.

What I don't quite understand is he's done this before, did it recently, and may have done it to others, albeit on a much smaller scale. So why are the CC companies still allowing him to do business with their cards and services?

Oh nooooooo... in a way a bit funny )ironically of course). Our former club President has recently moved to Michigan, and MTS is/was about his favorite I think--he talked about it enough.
