Maybe once they've been seen Michael but just trying to explain can be a bit difficult.

Roger.
Ahh, I see your point. Showing is one thing, explaining is quite another. I would be the first to admit when I first heard of flats, my initial reaction was, "Huh"? I've probably encountered flats at some point in my life, but never really gave them much thought; they were simply a piece of embossed material that had been painted, albeit rather well, and were presented in a frame as would be any conventional 2-D piece. Even now I suppose I have difficulty seeing them as a "modeling" subject rather than simply a 3-D painting. I will admit I found it interesting to see the flats removed from their background material and displayed. It definitely enhances the 3-D feel to them. While not a subject I'd be interested in doing, I definitely appreciate the work and talent that goes into them.

Yes,that's what I was getting at Michael.
If you say to someone you paint model figures at least most people can relate it to toy soldiers and you can elaborate on it but flats? Toy soldiers that have been run over by a steam roller. :)

Roger.
