Re: 120mm 82nd airborne (Maurice Corry).

I tend to agree with Steve and Paul on the eyes. Purely as a matter of personal taste, I think slightly more contrast in the facial features would help. A good start tho Lewis.

Ron

Hello! Lewis.
I have just painted this figure, too.
I expect it of your version very much.
I'd like to follow.

Mitsutaka.

Hi, Mitsutaka.

I enjoyed watching you paint your model, only thing is I don't think I could keep up with the pace of your painting.

Hi again all.

Got the shoulder holster all finished and the metal parts of the webbing done.

I'm very happy with the shoulder holster, all comments welcome.

Thanks a lot Lew J.

Hi again all.

90% finished on the uniform, still a little bit to do on it here and there, scarf is done... perhaps a bit more shading can't really tell till head's on.

Base coat has been applied to the felt shoulder protectors. Seem to be getting on quite well with this at the mo so you can guarantee something will come along to hold me up.

All critiques welcome, thanks Lew J.

Not sure if the colour of the felt is to orangey would like a little input.

Thanks Lew J.

Lew, I 've just caught up with this one. This is looking v good indeed.

I'm 100% with you in that lager scales don't need such tonal variations.

Thus far your treatment of the apparently easy olive drab is right on the button. It's nowhere near as easy as it first appears.

Well done so far. Good luck with the rest.

Something to think about is how weathered US uniforms in Europe should look be by this stage in WWII, as I take it's around June '44.

Hi Blind Pew, thanks for the input on the uniform.

I shall be looking to weather the uniform and gear once it's more or less complete. Just waiting on the base to be made for it then I can get some ground work down to give a better idea of the weathering needed.

I was thinking about doing him in the Cotentin peninsular somewhere like Sainte Mere- Eglise.

Think I will put on Band Of Brothers to look at the weathering on their uniforms as this seems to be pretty accurate, plus gives me an excuse to watch it again.

Thanks Lew J.

Hi all.

Just a quick post to show you my base that I just took delivery of.

It's made from Brazilian Mahogany and turned by a friend.

All I have to do now is decide on the ground work and then I can continue to paint.

Thanks Lew J.

Hi all.

Thought I'd just post a quick couple of close up pics of his left boot all done.

Hoping to get him all finished some time next week as I finally have some time off of work.

Hope you all like, thanks Lew J.

The groundworks very effective, what did you use?
Cheers,
carl.

Hi Carl, it's Fredericusrex or Green line (might be the same company) got it from E-bay it comes in a sort of mat form but I cut it into small sections to break it up so it wasn't so regimental.

Hope this helps, Lew J.
