Hi All,
thanks for your comments and for looking,
if I was honest an hour slot at Euro would not be long enough,as this may look a little long winded and is.
To paint to a fair level it takes one hell of a lot of time, that in it self for me, at least is a problem I get very little of it,any way I hope give you some ideas in a "not teaching granny to suck eggs" kind of way,I think mostly all have darn good idea how to paint!!!!
Colours are all oils
next post I'll list them, but I've added a snap of the pallet I worked off of.
Best Regards
Paul

Hi,
Sorry for the delay;
Oil Colours were,
venetian red, cadmium red deep, flake white, sap green, burnt umber, this was the base coat pinky red.
applied and removed to leave a film, then I started adding cadmium red deep/lamp black in differant shades darker in the eye socket and more red on the cheeks.
Under the chin and 5 o'clock shaddow was a mix of lamp black and naples yellow all softened out with a no4 pro art series 6 squirrel brush.
To tidy up and highlight naples yellow was used, later on when dry flake white was added for a few tiny areas to bring them out nose/chin/eye wrinkles so on.

Hope this helps Gordy.....(y)

Rob thanks' for the comments and for looking.
Best regards
Paul

Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for taking the time to do this SBS, I'll be following with interest as you know from our conversation at Euro, especially where the metallics are concerned.
One question, what was your enamel base coat for the face?

Keith

Hi Keith,
sorry mate bit slack with a responce, the Humbrols were flesh when that was all dry,I mixed flesh/wine and shaded the eye sockets, cheeks, under the chin and eye bag, I added a little black to the mix.
Best Regards
Paul

Hi All,
bit of an update,
painted the waist coat vallejo buff 976 to block out first, left over night to dry, then shaded with naural wood/black and white all Humbrols, also blocked out and pre shaded the jacket in oxford blue/black, base.
Highlight with a little natural wood in the mix.
Best Regards
Paul

Thanks for looking as always.

Hi All,
I've painted, shaded and highlighted the shoulder boards// Revell email color matt No17 as the base, then shaded with Humbrol natural wood No 110/black No 33,highlighted with tan 148.
NO METALIC'S ADDED YET THAT'LL BE NEXT.......
I used these colours for the hair too by the way.
I popped the head on as you can see for good measure, makes me feel I'm getting some where at last.

Hi All again,
had a day off today, so had a bit more time with this chap, its not too far off a done job......
Any way my thoughts on gold lace.....................by no means the, be all and end all, just my way of painting it.
I've done the shading and highlighting with enammels, now with Humbrol gloss varnish as a carrier a tiny dot of printers ink gold, the one I use ,it has a very fine pigment, any way,so with this on the pallet I add lot's of white spirit and thin till its totaly transparent,I apply this and allow it to dry on the lace.
I added a dot of poppy oil to the original mix to make the particals ping to the surface and then I painted the buttons see photo.
SHADING IT NEXT
Best Regards
Paul

Hi All,
ok shading the lace/shoulder boards, sorry to keep it till now,I used a citadel wash from games workshop called devlan mud to tone the sparkle away.
It dont leave a big impact but subtle effect.
Thanks for looking
