Hello All,
This is the basic pose roughed out for the Bren Gunner. This bust could also suit Pacific,Burma(Chindit) WW2 Period and Korea also.Comments welcome.

Hello All,
here is an optional hat being a US Soft cap worn by NewZealanders in the Pacific. As the stitching on the peak would be seen I made a tapered grooved rolling tool that would impress the stitched curved lines on the peak,The idea being tapered is that the rolling motion will form a curve thus making the stitching on the cap. Will show pics later.
The bren is still being worked on.
Comments welcome
Andy

Hello All,
Some more progress.A brass handle for the barrel is turned plus some work on the torso and arms.See how the curve of the bren magazine and forearm reflect the shape of the curves in the hats. Then to me the whole bust is now framed within itself.
Comments welcome.

Hi Andy,
WOW you are very productive at the minute and all great sculpts. I love watching your sculpts develop and this again is another quality piece. My only wish would be to add a few more photo's of the rear and side shots.
cheers
Richie

Nice lines & design mate. One concern I'd mention is the way the bren is sitting, these are bl**dy heavy so I'd expect it to sit further back into his shoulder when cradled like this. Does this make sense?

Also like the face on this chap, seems you have given him a prominent jaw line & tired eyes.

Well done on this project again a unique study, especially the kiwi.

Hi Mike,
I handled a bren at a local Gunsmith to discover that they are heavy.Because one of the pouches is behind the bren some of the weight impression is lost. The only part showing the weight were a couple of creases in the shoulder ,not immediately seen.
Thanks for the comments all.

Hi All,
Thanks for your comments so far.The bipod and fitting has been added. Some clean up work and a new handle as the other one was too big.Comments welcome.

Hi Andy, now that makes real sense mate, resting on the ammo pouch is exactly what you could do.
Great to hear of the research on this as well. It's an amazing weapon to use & you've captured all the fine lines of it well.

Keep it comin'

Mike

Andy, another brilliant sculpt, par for the course for you! The pose is spot on, I didn't think the bren was that heavy, possibly due to my awesomeness though!
More Highlanders please.
Scotty.
