Very cool!

Here is a couple of pictures that might be of interest. The first is of Gustav II Adolf's buff coat that he wore at the battle of Lutzen.

The second picture shows his horse, Streif, who survived the battled and lived a few years longer. He was 'stuffed' and preserved for history. Not very often we have real reference regarding a mount and his furnishings!

Thank you Victor.

Anders thanks very much for those pics, they will be going in my TYW file for definite. I have some pics of Streif but not the one you have posted. You might have noticed I painted the furnishings green. I've based my version on this painting as I have already painted a flat with the red furnishings.

Glad to help! I took these on a visit back home few years back, I thought I had more, but these two are the only ones I took of the stuff from Gustav Adolf.

I'm not sure which furnishings are the correct ones. I'd probably go with the real deal over the painting though, especially since if you look at the horse in the painting, it doesnt resemble the real horse much. But like you said, since you've already done one might as well do the other!

Thanks for posting a large res picture of the painting as well, been saved!
