My lad has just started on this one from http://www.darkstarmini.co.uk/ after a real nice chat with the owner Steve Crisp (steve c here http://www.planetfigure.com/members/steve-c.5105/) they do some really nice stuff. here's what he has to say in his own words.

I used acrylics for the eyes and the rocks on the back. The base is a drawer handle from B&Q. I think I'm going to use a lighter grey for the skin on the outside. The bust had very little clean up and dad primered it for me. Any advice or criticism welcome. Thanks.

Robert.

Credit to Dad for the idea although I picked it out he said about it, have you got any suggestions on it ? Forgot to mention I gave the primer a wash of blue as well for skin clour
Robert

looking good;)maybe you could put a wash of colour into the pitting of his forehead.your choice really but maybe a mid purple.

Excellent work, Robert....I've never seen a better Nick Clegg likeness before!...well done.

Thanks Mark, but what did my bust do to you that made you compare him to a politician?;) Thanks to you as well, swralph, I think I will do that.
Robert.

Great work Robert,
You. Are a man after my own heart.....scrounging around for things to use on your figures' shades of Dad there too.
I do like your painting style and colour choise. Keep at it mate you look like a winner.
Cheers Mate,
Keith

This is excellent work Robert (y)(y)(y) . If you are planning on going lighter with the skin tone I'd use photo #2 as your reference. The way it shades from a very light forehead darkening through the cheeks to a much darker top of the chest works really well.
Cheers
Derek

Really well done Robert. Only suggestion I would offer, is to bring the hi-lites up a touch. You have a nice blend from light to dark, as you go down, so repeat this in the hi-lites.
Dad is going to have a hard time keeping up with you mate

Cheers

Ron
