Hello folks,
I have started my batch of fusiliers of one of my favorite regiments in French service.
I primed the figures with Army painter Blue and dipped them in the dark quick shade from the same manufacturer.
i have modified the tricorne hats to my liking and added cockades.

I just posted that picture cause i am using my phone, still don't have internet at home and i have tons of reference pics on my computer.
Some sources describe as sky blue and others as dark sky blue.
I did paint 2 flagbearers of deux ponts in a shade that i think it could be right..but really hard to argue the true colors an these since all the available sources contradict themselves.
You like i am, love to be hisrorically accurate and sometimes if i find it hard cause the sources create descripancies.

Ok Daniel. But think, that dark sky blue and dark blue is not the same. In french "bleu ciel fonce", if you search for it in the net you will see that is not so dark as artillery uniforms or royal coats for drummers. Is similar to the Lauzun´s Legion infantry coats ( sky blue), Royal Deux Ponts (Horizon blue, or dark sky blue). It seems confused, but is simple, all foreign regiments wore the same colors, blue for german, swedish regiments, and red for swiss and irish.

Please, show us those flagbearers.

Yes, you have bleu ciel (sky blue), and blue ciel fonce that is the dark version.
The artillery wore a much much darker blue.
The way i see it is that the royal deux ponts wore a sky blue very close to the lauzun's infantry, tipical of foreign regiments in french service except swiss and irish who wore Red.

I completely agree with you

Another factor to take in consideration is the materials and colors available to those painters at The time .
Another fact is that digital files distort the colors...you may have one shade of red in one computer ans slightly different in another monitor.

I am happy with the shade of sky blue i came up, but i will try some other mixes to add slight variation within the group.

Hello folks,
I basically finished the lapels in "jaume citron" or lemon yellow.
To me, yellow is one of the hardest colors to work with, and lemon yellow even worse.
I've used a base color from citadel, golden yellow, brushed some vallejo burnt umber wash, added some touch ups in prince August acrylics lemon yellow and finished the edges and extreme lights with the new GW edge paint in yellow, which is a very pale shade of yellow.
i layed the base paint for the fleshtone from 3 different brands, it may add some slight variation in skin tone ut the idea is not to make everybody the exact same.
