I have finally finished one!!!! Picked up this lovely bust at FW sculpted, of course by Robert Lane.

Could be better but I feel I am starting to get somewhere at last. I know there are things wrong with it so don't be shy to point them out but I will not be doing a lot of corrective work on this, it is going in my 'timeline of progression' however, I would still like all my faults pointing out in a gentle way please :)

Graham. Who's a cheeky lad then!:D Someone has been concentrating and working hard;) A little more definition (shade) in-between her cleavage, and upper / lower eyelids, would pull this visual out! (y) .. Why am I reaching for my burnt sienna ??? ... This work is polls apart from your previous. .. That denim is a bit good.

Regards,

Mark

Graham,

Well done to you nice looking bust , female flesh is one of the hardest to get right ....I would put a bit more cheek definition and get the sienna out as Mark says with a bit more shadow and highs on the hair but what a improvement ..didn't fancy doing chequered pattern on the hat then!!!!

What's next in line then?

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Thanks guys, this one was just a pleasure to paint. Nope, I feel that chequered hats is just showing off Nap lol.

Next up is continuing the Merchant/Thomas Cromwell bust, both sold to me by Nap, slaving away, on behalf of Elan13 at FW. I have also started the Shamrock Miniatures Brian Boru.

On top of that I also have some 32mm in the pipeline.

Need to get a couple more from Elan13 as well, there is the girl in the hoodie and another which I cannot remember at the moment :)

Busy, busy! Onwards and upwards.

Edit: just checked, it is the Steampunk Pirate from Elan13 I am after too.

Hang on a minute mush!.... I want cleavage definition, and eye shading! .. Nap wants cheek definition. Don't go arsing about with other stuff, before this is done.:D

Lol! .. this is how we all learn! One hand on your brush, the other holding your 'Bollocks'. ( Ladies excluded of course ).. Be brave, small touches can make a huge impact.;) and never worry if it goes 'South', that's the learning curve.
However, never bin a 'Fluff-up',. that can be sorted out at some later point!:D

Mark

Strange painting technique but I know where you are coming from lol. Hey! Speaking of painting techniques, found myself licking the brush this afternoon!! Really glad I stuck to acrylics........

Just to be technical for a moment, it's not the cleavage that's important, it's what's either side and do they each have their own postcode?:LOL:
No criticism, just remember that progression comes in its own time and the best way to make it happen is to forget about it and just enjoy.

It sounds a bit perverse for blokes of our vintage, but if you want tips on painting faces look on youtube and see how some of those Goth girls do their makeupo_O.

Best wishes, Gary.

Trust me Gary, I am just doing it for fun. Last time I tried, I wanted to be an expert within the week. When that didn't happen I just threw the towel in. This time, it is simply for the pleasure of doing it. OK, the frustrations are still there but I know that I am understanding the techniques better, all I have to do is practice until I get those techniques to work for me.

This is simply so relaxing, even with the frustrations, and therapeutic, these things ought to be available on the Health Service :)

Hi guys,

I have just got back from hospital after trying Marks techniques nearly choked on my brush that I was licking whilst trying to get onto u tube at the same time trying to get on the postcode locator website ........

The things we go through eh !!!!!

Graham,

As long as you enjoy it that is really all that matters ....I am willing to start on the cleavage first then move onto the cheeks ........

Off to have a cold shower..

I love this hobby of ours

Nap

OK, on the advice above I have done a bit more but I won't be doing anymore than this lol.

I have, hopefully, put more definition into the cheeks and eyes. At the request of Nap, I have deepened the shadow In the .... Erm... Cleavage.

Hope you can see the difference in the pics as it does look better in real life.

Many thanks for the comments and advice, I am really happy with this one now and I will be getting a plinth base for it :)

;) , Again a great improvement! .. Compare these last two pics to your original top ones! even you can see a little bit of paint can create that much more depth. (y)

Ps. Always remember to breathe !

Mark

Lol, bit late now Mark.... I am sat on settee taking on pure oxygen lol.

Yes, I can see the difference, more so in real life as the lighting makes it a tad harsh in the photos. Many thanks again for the advice. I make no apology for keep repeating that the advice and support on PlanetFigure is so much appreciated :)
