WIP Corso Models French Artillery officer, Republic 1793

Hello planeteers,
New project, french republican artillery officer 1793.
I have bought these kit some time ago, it was hard to find since it is out of production.
The figure is sculpted really nice, lots of details but on the down side, the fittings of some pieces are not the best.
It may be just the casting cause the sculptor did an awesome job.
I wasn't planning a conversion but knowing myself i couldn't let go modifying the hat and turnbacks to what, in my own vision is the shape i think it resemble most on the 1791 uniform guidelines and shape .
i don't remember if i bought the figure from a fellow member here and Eduardo (Edorta) helped me to find it.
in any case, i am grateful that i was able to obtain it and work in progress now.
When i started working on it i realized that i am now working on the opposing side of the French Royal marine artillery who besieged the port of Toulon!.
So i will have them side by side when done with.

Here's some pics of the standard process i do with every figure.
Maybe the prep. Is kinda too much but for the most part i had great results.
First pic you will see, i use scotchbrite to scrub and polish the figure.
On the second pic , i use detergent, warm water and and tooth brush and clean the figure.
On the third pic, i dry and heat up the figure using a blow dryer.
Next pic, i apply a light coat of primer, i normally use the automotive primer which is cheaper than the hobby primer and works great on metal, plastics and resin.

Hello folks,
I have finished the hat and face of this officer.
these are the mixes so far, all in acrylics
Hat
Base color German grey and a dab of ochre.
Lights,base color plus ochre.
Shadows, base color plus black.
Face
I have copied from a post here in the forum but don't recall the name, it deserves to be mention thou.
Base color; brown sand plus a dab of english uniform and a dab of earth.
Lights, base plus flat skintone,last lights and accents i added light skin.
As for the shadows,base plus cavalry brown, last shadows added hull red and finished with a wash on cavalry brown.
For the eyes
The white eyeballs were a mix of light skin and a dab of deck tan.
The pupils wore painted with german camo black brown, center in a mix of blue/gray and dab of light flesh.
.all and all, i am pleased with the results

Hello planeteers,
I laid the base colors for the coat, lapels,vest and pants.
I am using different mixes for all the above mentioned garments, i believe the wore from different materiel and different sources to produce the coats and other garments.
It is also true that by the year 1793 supllies were so scarce that some of that layed to the rag tag french army of the later years.
I' ve use for the coat a mix of Andrea navy blue a d dab of black.
For the vest i've use dark prussian blue and a dab of vallejo navy blue.
For the lapels i've use vallejo navy blue.
For the pants i've use Andrea navy blue plus a dab of citadel moridian blue.

Looking good, Marquis. The skin tones have a nice balance to them. I think you've painted the eyes right, as it would have been very easy to make them look 'popeyed' but your concentration on them has paid off. I know some people would give greater contrasts in the skin tones, but this looks about right to me. Nice job - it's clear to see you're enjoying this one!

Thanks Colin, i was hoping that the difference between the blues was going to be a little bit more noticeable, but blue could be tricky when dries out, it goes darker.
Anyhow, i may add more lights with different colors in each and see the final result..thanks for passing by

The eyes are always the hard part to paint, i really hesitate when it comes to paint them..
