Hi Simon

Catching up on this , regarding the reds , agree with Nigel’s comment , you’ve got these with you , sometimes pics don’t help and look different to reality

Nice to see the sash on FFL being done , I’d look at highlighting a touch more as you said when tunics done , very neat lines on the trousers stripes

Like all looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Thank you Kev, yes the sash needs some work, it is a mid blue rather than light which I always see it as, that's down to the dark blue tunic I reckon. It's not till you see it on a contemporary figure that I realise the real colour.

The trouser stripes do need a lift, I'll post progress piccies shortly.

Cheers Simon

Hi Simon,

These are really delightful figs, unusual uniforms and original.

Rgds Victor

Many thanks Victor, I do like off beat uniforms that don't get seen too often. Although in France or Spain they would both be more familiar. They keep me happy and that's all I ask of my creations.

Cheers Simon

Progress, I've spent most of the day painting blue tunics, swapping from one figure to the next Frequently. I think I need some higher highlights but not too many as the tunics are very dark blue and don't reflect much light. Also taken a leaf out of Paul Handleys book and re primed everything that is going to be red plus the medal/ribbons and all the gold lace and button with a dark brown. Just need to remember to paint the hands!

Click thumbnails to enlarge image, but if you do remember they are only 54mm!

They look very nice, regardless of scale. The trousers are grand now, as are the jackets: a nice subdued shade of both colours.

Cheers David, I starting to suspect painting acrylic directly onto the grey primer has more to do with the way the colours present than anything I'm trying to do.

Hi Simon

Trying to look in as much as possible , this is really coming along now, personally I think the blue tunics need only a tiny hint of highlights ....it’s about 95% there in my opinion

Agree with David’s comments ref trousers

These are a couple of real gems mate ...you’ve done some fine sculpting and painting

I would keep the basework very simple

Looking forward to seeing more

Enjoy those ribbons

Happy benchtime
