Hi all
this is one of my recent works.
Pegaso models in 75mm as my usual fully Painted with acrylics.
I'm not very satisfied with metallics ( also acrylics), but by now is done!
Please feel free to tell me what do you think :)
Thank you
Roberto

I like the metals but they may look different in real life. I agree that he is very "clean" but I always think that most Napoleonics are slightly romantic in portrayal whether in art or miniature. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

Firstly, the pics are small so difficult to be sure
Metals are a bit dull and the cuirass is grainy looking............it should be smooth and shiny
The whites are very clean but need darkening on the undersurfaces of the legs and arms to shape the figure better
I notice you have a little back spot light that has reflections under the arms and legs. Try and mask that light or do without it.
The blue facings I would have toned down their value by adding a bit of it's complimentary colour to it just to stop it being quite so bright.............it's close!
Face seems good.

All the above is just my personal preference. My whites in the 71st Infantry Officer aren't 'dark' enough for one observer.......personal reference.

Cheers David

I want to buy this one now!!;)

Thank you guys for the comments
I appreciate it a lot!:D
For the shadows and lights (on whites in particular) I'm Always afraid to exceed...
You're right for the small photos, I post a few bigger:)

@Nap. I used Vallejo and Andrea acrylics. First a black base. After that some non-metallic color in copper tone (Golden Yellow+red). Finally I added some metallic paint (if I rember correctly glorious gold Vallejo). Then shadows (black) and light (Yellow, White, and a little silver) with many glazes.;)

Ciao
Roberto

Thank you very much to all:D

@Mat. Yes is a great idea! Maibe, if you want, you may create a new discussion, so that its useful to all.
P.s.
The Musee de l'Armee is a fantastic place!;)

Ciao

Congrats Roberto!
Outstanding painting of white. I would love to paint white like you! :)
Very, very tight execution and a great atmosphere.
The cuirass and helmet heavy sheen can be achieved very easy just adding few glazes with Future (acrylic floor polish) diluted with water. Future is a clear finish and all the great work that you did on the cuirass and helmet will be visible. You add only the sheen. Just an idea on how you can achieve that glossy look.
Cheers and congrats again for a very nice piece.
Zeno :)

Too kind Zeno... Thank you!

I know the Future (I come from tanks/vehicles world) but here in Italy it's quite difficult to find.
I could try with some glossy varnish. Whant do you think?:)

Roberto

I think that both methods work (glossy varnish and poppy oil+burnt umber wash).
What I'm suggesting is to test them before you apply on the figure. Cover 2 surfaces with the mix that you used to create the cuirass and apply on one the glossy varnish and on the other one the poppy oil+burnt umber wash.
Another idea to consider is Tamiya Smoke very well diluted and applied in thin glazes. Dries very glossy and transparent.
Al the ideas are good to experiment with. Try them and choose the one which gives you the best result.
Cheers Roberto and keep us updated.
Zeno :)

I love this figure as Marc said, top to bottom. The one thing I would do is to add (as noted by others) more sheen to the cuirass. But not to much otherwise it won't look appropriate for the scale imo.

Roberto....beautiful rendition(y) . To follow on with Zeno's advice, in addition to Smoke, Tamiya also carries Clear Yellow, Orange and Red. They all dry with a slight gloss finish. I'd be tempted to test the yellow or orange on some scrap piece to see the effect.

I have this piece in the grey army, so I look forward to seeing what you decide to do
