Finally managed to finish this. I've been slowly trying to convert from oils to acrylics and this is my first full figure using all acrylics (except for the belt and boots - I still prefer enamels and oils for leather). I hope I managed to do this figure justice, it is a lovely sculpt by Steve of Reedees Miniatures and a pleasure to paint. I did make some minor changes to the figure, resculpting the hair and eyes a little in search of the crazy tousled look from the iconic shot of Rick atop the schoolbus. I made a custom decal for the base which is a rough offcut of old wood I found being used as a display base in my local jewellers. I also made a decal for Rick's watch based on the real prop and altered his gun so the hammer is cocked. Hope you all like him, comments welcome. Just waiting for Daryl now (hint hint - Steve). Hi John,
Nice to see you got Rick painted up, I like how you created the sweat stains on his shirt, very nice. I just finished my version recently and when I get the chance I will take some photos and post him up.
Have been having a think about starting Daryl soon but might be a possibility of doing Carl first :)
Cheers
Steve

Thanks guys. Blunderbus - good spot on the barrel, I will drill it out a little more, looks a bit like he's playing with a bb gun at the moment! Steve, looking forward to seeing your version. Carl would be cool but my wife will be very disappointed if you don't do Daryl first!

thanks for your kind comments Ometz, the figure was sculpted and produced by Steve above of Reedees Miniatures. It was a very limited run if I recall and not available on the Reedees Miniatures website, I was lucky enough to pick up one of the last copies from Steve via eBay.

An impressive bit of painting of an excellent sculpt.
I second Steve's comments about the sweat stains.

Cheers,
Andrew

thanks everyone for your kind comments, I'm inspired to keep plugging away with acrylics. I think I still need more work on getting smooth transitions between my highlights and shadows though. I'm still too used to blending with oils, although I'm beginning to see how much more you can achieve with acrylics and the pretty much guaranteed flat finish is great. So far I've been using Scale 75 colours as I picked up a full set cheap in a Historex sale. I have the PiliPili 120mm Geisha next on the bench which should be an interesting change from sweaty Rick !

Hi, Yes this is the figure by Reedees, I reworked the hair and eyes just a little but the rest is all Steve. It's a fantastic sculpt which I can highly recommend and the casting is flawless.
