Hi folks,

A small sbs of the figurethat I'm painting right now. It's the old Andrea's Knight with axe. I try to represent a templar knight during the siege of Monzon's castle, the last bastion of the order in Aragon's kingdom.
The helmet's been burnished and then covered with some layers of tamiya's smoke vallejo0s smoke and oils.
The rest is painted with acrylics. White is a difficult color, man!!! I've lost the number of glazes that I had to use!

Some advances with the shield.

Back part with the colors used. The wood is not sculped so I decided to paint it instead of leave a plain color.

Front part more or less finished, just waiting for some more weathering when I attach it to the figure. I used a sponge for the lights and shadows trying to give some texture.

All comments are welcome.

Another step. Belts and straps finished (just pending the buckles) and shield attached.

Base of Matt brow+glossy black. Lights with matt Brown, light Brown ando ochre Brown (small scratches). Shadows with purple and glossy black.

And then… the nightmare arrived. I tried to fix the left arm and the hands with the axe to the figure, but I realized that it was impossible to align the three joints and there was a huge empty gap of 1-2 mm between the left arm and the hands. At first I tried to sculpt the missing part with putty but the look was a little bit awkward and the whole was very weak and easy to break. In addition too much manipulation of the figure during this process caused some shines and chipping.

I decided to start all over and disassemble the right arm. Fortunatelly I didn’t pinned it and just glued with Loctite so finally with some strength I managed to take it.

Playing with the two arms and the hands (more scrubbing the figure :( ) I managed to align and glue the four joints. This time only a minimum quantity of putty was necessary to fill the gaps.

Time for repairing some spots and repainting the chainmail…

Arms attached and axe finished. I burnished the metal and applied several layers of tamiya smoke except on the edge.

Head attached. Only the sword is missing. I also need to repair some mistakes and details and prepare the groundwork and the weathering.

Figure finished!
I decided to do a not so elaborated groundwork but accurated to the place where the figure is supposed to be settled (60 Km from my home ;)). I have been captivated by the story of the last moments of the order of the temple in Spain, and the prosecution and siege that these knights suffered before they desapeared.

It has been a very challenging figure and after all the troubles that I have found I'm reasonably happy with the result. I have tested some new techniques and I have learned many things. Mainly the importance of a good planning before starting to mount of the figure!!!
P.S. : sorry for the pictures (mobile phone), I don't have the "real" camera available these days.
