Afternoon Planateers.
As promised here is the last of the three Redcoats that I've got 'round to photographing at last. It's the Chota Sahib 54mm figure Officer of the Royal Devon Yeomanry 1902. Pretty much a straight paint job added a few minor details such as the chin scales on the busby. I decided with the receding hairline that he would be an older officer and the grey hair seemed to work with the grey braided jacket.

Given the pose I pictured him in one of those typical sepia regimental studio photo's of the period. I wanted the setting to be quite subdued and whilst the obvious thing to do would have been to print a 'Persian' rug and then glue it in place it looked too bright so I made one from putty and added some wooden flooring with basswood strip to go underneath it.

Hope you enjoy him (The next one is definitely a red free figure);)

Nice job Paul.
So whats next on the block, Royal Horse Guard, Hussar, Rifleman, No Red involved
Mick

I tend to have about 5 or 6 on the go and then one will suddenly start to feel 'right' and I concentrate on that one. Vying for the number one position is another CS figure, who's had a new head popped on and few sculpting changes. I've blocked the main colour on and started on the flesh so stay tuned . . .

Doing a fine job on the painting, looks excellent. Great little figures these.
My fav were the Cavalry in stable dress, about 1890 ish.
For a fellow who don't like red, your doing a good job

Very nice figure Paul which stands the test of time thanks to your painting. I've long thought that there is a lot of potential for unusual uniforms in the Yeomanry but apart from 3 that I remember from Ceremonial Studios years ago the area is hardly touched. Good to see Kev flagging up details of the Nuts Planet Bust from this area also.

Oh Paul, thanks for sharing these pics.

This brings back good memories of my first model purchases as an adult.

I have purchased every one in the series.

The problem was always which regiment to choose to depict.

I was led to beleive after the owner of Sarum miniatures couldn't get a buyer the range has now died away which
is sad, I would love to have a few more in my GA.

Cheers guys :)

Glad you like it Bob - I have to confess that I really like the off duty or on campaign type figure such as the stable dress you mention; this is an area thatI'll delve into when I start doing stuff for myself (And of course they'll probably have red coats) ;)

You're right Claude there were some fabulous Yeomanry uniforms that have, to date, been largely ignored which is a real shame . . .

I completely missed this one first time 'round Paul so I'm glad it's bought back some fond memories. It seems a real shame that they've fallen by the wayside. Although the poses could be considered a little 'formal' they are lovely figures to paint and with a little work look great IMO (I've got three others that I didn't manage to do first time 'round which will be heading this way soon)

You little tease
I'm afraid so Mick :D

Cheers
