It's been great seeing this come together, and as with everybody else, I'm anxiously waiting to see the next couple of steps.

Nap, Keith, Andrew and Phil, thanks for your ongoing encouragement gents. I really do appreciate your comments.

The next step for this bust will be the application of the oil paint washes, which will deepen the colours and add additional contrast into the officers tunic, the hair and the skin tones.

I'll also be adding some shine to the Sam Browne belt and the leather chin strap around the brim of the peaked cap.

Hopefully it will be finished by this time next week.

Hi guys,

It's been some time since I updated my thread and showed you the final pics of the Monash bust.

I've been pretty sick recently and lost my eyesight for several days last week. It's come back now but is still quite blurry and I wont be painting anything for some time.

Just before I got sick I managed to finish off the Monash bust.

I've added a few washes of oil paint over the tunic, some gloss varnish to the leather Sam Browne belt and finished the service ribbons above the breast pocket. The colours look off in these pictures. The tunic is much darker and browner in real life.

Thanks to everyone who commented on this thread and offered their support and encouragement.
