Ooooh! I do like it!
I enlarged the photo to look at the dots and then zoomed out to watch them magically merge.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks for your comments guys. Day Five of the face stippling and its starting to come together. A few more sessions and I'll be able to move on to the uniform and cap.

Andrew, Marc, Nap, Ken, Keith and Gordon - thank you for your very kind comments.

As most of you know, I paint in a style called oils over acrylics, which means I paint a series of oil washes over the painted acrylic paint which serves to add depth to the colours.

I'm still working on the acrylics at this stage, and the tunic is literally just a base coat and a first shadow so far. I hope to do a highlight or two on the tunic in the next couple of days and start to see the uniform details "pop" a bit more.

Keith, you're absolutely correct about the fact that there are no hiding places in this scale. Even the tinniest flaws are visible with the naked eye, and they look terrible when you zoom in with the camera for a close up.

The challenge for me is to ensure that I get the balance right and ensure that it looks realistic from whatever distance its being viewed.

Glad you like it so far gents.(y)

Hi guys,

My apologies for the delay in providing an update. I've been travelling on business and haven't had much time to get in the hobby room.

The acrylics are almost complete now. A few minor details to the service ribbons are required and then I can get started on the oil paint washes.
