Not a fan either of this particular book - really love the book by Painting Miniatures by Danilo Cartacci and the new Scale Model Handbooks.

The Black set tends to lean towards the blues - I usually lean towards the brown tones unless I am trying to achieve a cool color palette. The Blue set is really great.

I agree with you Colin - you need to increase the contrasts for both the shadows and the highlights - but it's looking very nice so far! Save the pure white for just the very high highlights and it will 'pop' more. And just a touch of the 'ole Burnt Umber into your shadow color should help. Keep...

This time the Andrea White Paint set was used to paint the whites on a few 1/35 Alpine Miniatures figures. AMPS 2010 Figure Painting Seminar.

I always base coat with Vallejo Burnt Umber, then apply a mix of Vallejo Gold and a bit of the Burnt Umber (to tone it down) then I add Vallejo acrylic matt varnish to the mix so it will not 'sparkle'. You can add highlights with just the Gold and a bit less Burnt Umber mixed with the matt...

Thanks Adrian, the Andrea White paints are "dead flat" and do not require any matt varnish. I always use all of their dark colors (black, greens, blues) for the same reason. The Vallejo dark colors seem to have a bit of a satin finish when dry - but I tend to use Vallejo for just about...

A little Burnt Umber from Vallejo - I use this color in every paint mix!

I just posted on the painting forum a 90mm Andrea figure using the white Paint set! I mixed earth tones into the whites while painting and finished with pigments. Any questions - just send me a note. Dave
