hi! The mente is the name of the jacket coat on his shoulder. Its maybe should be a bit bigger size too. It was used to cover the hand with the lead/reins against cuts, but it was a cold/wet weather coat as well. By the hungarian and crobotian grenzers it was common to use blacked sheepskin...

militia "süveg" is around 38-40 cm tall alone. It was the common size for horsemens cap 300 years long - and it was inside the covering. Only the hajdu and the borderers/ grenzers/granicari had the csákó size your varazdiner have on. It looks now like prussian one. Ours had the same dimenzions...
