Thanks a lot Colin for the hint ! I found the dmna site and was pretty upset not to find the regimental flag of the 74th.
I would prefer to reproduce a regimental flag (closer to a painting in my opinion) rather than the national colour. I have in mind for example the 5th NY flag (duryee zouave)...
Hello,
I'm working currently on 28 mm Perry miniature Zouaves. They are great for plastic at such scale !
I'm depicting zouave of the 74th NY volunteer regiment, which had a uniform pretty close to the french imperial guard zouave. They were part of the excelssior brigade. I searched over...
Hi Paul, I'm an oil man too !! :) But I like to work both oils and enamel together.
I've noticed from the box art that the kilt was very dark and might have been washed with some dark filters/glaze. I tried that with black filters, then I applied matt varnsih and it has been a mess...awfull...
Marc, Eduardo, Nick and pte (?), many thanks for your comment.
The lesson I learned from the kilt is that the different color must be close in tone (at least for this motif), and yes lines must be much more subtile than that.
On to the next one !

Hello,
Some pictures of my completed 54mm highlander from La Meridiana. Any comments, advises etc are more than welcome. I painted the figure using enamel and oils. I think I poorly executed the kilt, and didn't enough shadow his face. More pics on my blog.
Best,
Julien
Hello Alexander,
Nice figure as the others said. Could it be possible to have more pictures from different angle, and to know where we can buy it ?

Bonjour Marc,
Une belle pièce de plus à ton arsenal. Le travail sur l'orange est stupéfiant. Je comprends pourquoi tu utilises 3 pinceaux par couleur !

I like the shield pattern on the artwork, but I was searching for other potential pattern. I...
Hi Zastrow,
I'm curerently reading convoi 42, from Erwan Bergot, telling the story of the prisoner just after the battle (he was himself part of a convoy).
I've read all his book...

Julien
I didn't know Jean Réno participated to this battle ??!! :):):)
Another masterpiece in an already great series. Not to mention the originality of the subject.
Un superbe travail !
Julien
very nice vignette. I would love to see some close up me too !
The vegetation is very effective. How did you achieve that and what material did you use ?
cheers,
julien
