The base colour is a little bit of Scale75 flat black, added to Scale75 Caspian Blue, and Brown Leather. The highlights are mixed in with a little Scale75 Pale Skin. It gives it a cooler blue tone to the black, which was really out of my comfort zone, but I kept going with the mix from the seminar.

Hello Planet! Hot on the heels of our very successful seminar with Fernando Ruiz here in Toronto, I've managed to make some more progress on the figure using a modified version of the technique he demonstrated. It certainly took some fear out of painting blacks... C&C most welcome...

I find it's just got a sheen that makes seeing shadows/highs tougher....I'm gonna matt varnish the hell out of it before I do the plates.

I managed to get a little more work in tonight - the blue is not making me happy at all - It's a mix of intense blue, and dark prussian blue, but it has that glossiness to it, that makes painting it harder...Highlight with a little ice yellow, shaded with adding some Andrea blue set 2nd Shade...

Thanks for the kind words everyone! It's an older Pegaso figure, the box art didn't really do some of the details justice, but I was really happy with it once I started cleaning it up. No progress tonight, but I'm hoping to get more done on Thursday....

Thanks Steve! It was one I overlooked for a long time, but it's really a gorgeous figure!

I ended up using it, thinned to hell, with reaper black ink mixed in to glaze over the chainmail.

I'm not sure about the hair, the picture is a little washed out, but I think you're right...I'll revisit it tomorrow. I did learn that I do not like Vallejo smoke today...it's not the same as Tamiya at all...

I've seen this in a local hobby shop, very handy reference, since the printed ones/labels on the rack aren't perfect...I was trying to figure out how to get my hands on one too.
