Hello fellow planeteers!

It's been a while since I've posted anything, and really, since I've worked on anything. I dug this bad boy out of the stash and got to work after our club meeting on Sunday. So far, I've done the face, hair and chainmail, all a bit of an experiment...

C&C most welcome!

Very nice start Alex.
The face and mail are looking really good... maybe a deeper couple of washes on the hair but it's hard to tell from the pics.

Lots of different materials and textures to play with here. I look forward to seeing how you handle them.

You were true to your word and got to the bench last night after the meeting... you get an extra cookie.

No slacking off now!

Colin

I'm not sure about the hair, the picture is a little washed out, but I think you're right...I'll revisit it tomorrow. I did learn that I do not like Vallejo smoke today...it's not the same as Tamiya at all...

An old, but still a very nice figure from pegaso. The face is itself very well. I 'm curious to see how it goes.

Liking it so far, boss - really like the way you've rendered the blondish hair, never an easy shade to get right, at least in my experience, but you've nailed it.

Cheers,

Brian

Thanks for the kind words everyone! It's an older Pegaso figure, the box art didn't really do some of the details justice, but I was really happy with it once I started cleaning it up. No progress tonight, but I'm hoping to get more done on Thursday....

I managed to get a little more work in tonight - the blue is not making me happy at all - It's a mix of intense blue, and dark prussian blue, but it has that glossiness to it, that makes painting it harder...Highlight with a little ice yellow, shaded with adding some Andrea blue set 2nd Shade, and black for the deepest. I've also glazed in some violet to the darker transitions of the blue...Any tips would be appreciated..I'm having a really hard time getting happy with it...

Doesn't look too glossy really... though I'm not seeing the same thing you are. Once you get a glossy base coat it's near impossible to repair without a matt varnish. You should've grabbed a bottle of matt medium on Sunday... I put it in almost every mix, especially blues, greens and reds.

I think it looks pretty good except for the likeness to Vancouver Canucks colours :wtf:

I find it's just got a sheen that makes seeing shadows/highs tougher....I'm gonna matt varnish the hell out of it before I do the plates.
