Completed Critique Just some old thing.....

I would have to agree that the arms look fine to me. The oversized pants take a second look to get used to, but everything looks right.

    Completed Is sculpting over?

Hiroshi hits on a very good point, these machines are not cheap to buy, run, or maintain. Since the figure market is, and always has been a niche market, the economics of using them to produce figures isn't a near term proposition. There are definitely cheaper version coming on the market, but...

    Completed Is sculpting over?

This has already happened in a lot of areas...mcFarlane Toys for example has no sculptors working on projects, everything is scanned and 3d printed, and the quality has actually gone down on some of their projects. We have a scanner and printer where I work and it is invaluable on some projects...

    New Alpine figures: June 2011

My two cents, although it's totally personal preference, is that I like the new painting style. Like Taesung said it's less dramatic but definitely more realistic...a worthwhile tradeoff to my eye. The painting may render slightly too much of a youthful look to Wittman in particular, but I still...

    WIP 1/10 Adolf Glunz

those pictures very clearly show the strap from the lifevest as well as the angled pockets on the sides of the pants, very helpful! I think I can also see a slit pocket on the rear of the pants on the top picture. A 1/48 or 1/32 figure in that pose would look very cool...

    WIP 1/10 Adolf Glunz

both of you have certainly helped and I think that gives me the definitive answer. I think what was confusing me was the light strip hanging down in front of the pants on my original picture. I now realize that is a tie from the life vest that just happens to make a right angle with the pocket...

    WIP 1/10 Adolf Glunz

I agree that it looks like a later version leather suit, and I have the picture you posted, although a smaller and lower res version so thanks for posting that, it helps! I'm wondering if this might have been a one piece suit with a narrow belt around the waist? I say that mostly based on the...

    WIP 1/10 Adolf Glunz

hi guys, it's been a while since I've posted anything, but this one is both a new project, and a request for some help. I'm working on a 1/10 Adolf Glunz but I am having a really tough time with the details of his flight suit. If anyone has any info or better pics of the flight suit in this...

thats a great collaboration, your friend made did a great job on the paint, and you gave him a great canvas...

    WIP Maj. Robin Olds 1/10

that is coming along very nicely...the likeness in particular is very very good. You've captured the ruggedness of his features very well.

beautiful work, everything about it looks just right....

WIP Critique A couple of figs on my desk

love the pose on the guy on the left...the look on his face matches the pose because he looks a little frustrated, like he's not finding what he's looking for fast enough. I do agree that the arm looks a little short on the guy on the right, but they are great figures!

    Chopper mechanic

very cool subject matter combined with great execution...that's a great piece, love the pedestal!

    something just for fun

Hey all, I've been off on some weird sculpting tangents lately, and this one is right up there among the most unusual, but I thought I'd post a picture anyway. My wife's boss has a husband who is a huge Underdog fan, so of course she asked me to do a little maquette for his birthday. This is...

Completed Braveheart reference picture to sculpt morph video

I'm not sure if it's okay to link to Youtube, and if it's not, moderators please pull the post, but I just posted a video of a reference picture to sculpt morph that might be interesting a few on the board. The sculpt is 1/6 scale, Super Sculpey Firm as usual...

something completely different, Vincent Price in 1/4 scale

Thanks everyone, I genuinely appreciate the comments. I would encourage anyone to try their hand at sculpting. It's only been two years of self taught learning for me, and while I know it's a never ending learning process, I'm happy with my progress so far. There are so many great resources...

something completely different, Vincent Price in 1/4 scale

Vincent Price in 1/4 scale, ready for the wife's desk here's a couple of pictures of the finished Vincent Price bust including one of him sitting in the dome which will go on my wife's desk. We find people are a lot less likely to pick up the pieces when they are safely under a dome...it's a...

something completely different, Vincent Price in 1/4 scale

Super Sculpey Firm Gordy...I just love that stuff. The larger scale was a lot of fun as I was able to be a little more hands on and use my fingers to push the clay around...different than using tools all the time. Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it very much!

something completely different, Vincent Price in 1/4 scale

One of my wife's favorite actors is Vincent Price, so I thought I would do a little experiment in capturing a likeness. The time period is more towards the middle of his career (which spanned 60 years) so he's not quite as "creepy" looking as his better known later career. I did a lot of...

Another 1/16th aviator, J.E. Johnson and Sally

the dog days of....January?? This dog is kicking my butt, I've been digging for a likeness for days now and this is the closest I can get. Any suggestions on what's right/wrong would be much appreciated...I think I might be vapor locked on it right now so it might help me see something I am...
