2009 MFCA - Group photo anyone?

Hi Pat, Good to hear. Al replied on one of the other sites that you guys would be coming and I'm happy to hear that you'll be among them. I checked the sign I made for last year and it was set for 10:00 am Saturday. So far, that appears to be good for this year as well. See you there, Craig :)

2009 MFCA - Group photo anyone?

Hey everybody, It's getting close to this years MFCA show. We've been doing a group photo for planetFigure, Timelines and Historicus Forma members for a few years now and I thought I'd see if anyone was interested in doing so again. Last year, we did it in the area just outside of the...

Hi Matt, I had heard about this generous offier of yours before but never got around to responding. I think this is a great idea and want to thank you for doing it. I know I'll be buying a ticket or two :-). Are you going to be at the APG show? If so, I hope I'll get the chance to meet you in...

    Napoleon bust

Hi Janus, Thanks for the comments. These eyes have been especially difficult for me. Thiese were the most round version I managed so far :D While these ones don't have any pink added to them, I do usually add a little Naples Yellow to the white on my eyes, just to tone it down. But I have...

    Napoleon bust

Hi all, In keeping with my attempts to break my slump, here are some pictures of my latest piece. It's a bust of Napoleon sculpted by David Greive and produced now by Deborah Raymond. It's my second in the series of three of Napoleon, Von Blucher and Wellington from Waterloo. It's a beautiful...

    Royalist Officer bust - Finished!

Hello all, Thanks for your comments. Jason, I sent you a PM about UEM that may be of interest. Marc, I did rather subtle shadowing and highlighting of the sleeves. And I didn't want the sleeves to match too closely in color with the white lace collar. I used Buff mixed with Parchment for the...

Hey everybody, It's been a long time since I posted anything but I recently completed the United Empire Miniatures "Royalist Officer - English Civil War" bust by Matt Springer.... It's a beautiful bust and I really enjoyed painting it. But being a bit out of...

    English Civil War Officer bust

Hi guys and thanks for the comments. I couldn't find any other way to order the bust either. But since my link to UEM was bad, a Google search gave me this one.. http://www.unitedempireminiatures.com/ It lists a phone number and has an email hot link to contact them directly. You might...

    English Civil War Officer bust

Hi guys, thanks for looking. Nap....the hat is just held on with blue tack for now. I remember trying to fill this gap with putty when I started it a long time ago. Unless I can get the hat positioned just right, it seems it may still be there :( Craig

    Anyone recognize this fig?

Thanks everyone for your help. the word I got on Timelines was that it's a Warriors piece and they also said it was forced out of production by Troiani. Here's a link to the painting someone gave me there... http://www.historicalartprints.com/hap/cmd?CMD=DETAIL&parent=null&prodid=100 Thanks...

    Anyone recognize this fig?

Hi everyone, I picked up this great looking figure at the Washington D.C. show a little while ago. I came bagged with no information and I'm hoping someone out ther can help me out with it. It's a 120mm US Army officer from around the Civil War era. I'm looking for the manufacturer and also...

Hi Tim, thanks for the suggestion. Do you have any links to anything that would allow me to read more on using greyscale? It sounds interesting. Craig

    Don Quixote - Finally finished!

For those of you nice enough to stiil look at this thread...:) I've retouched the beard and I think it looks better than before. Also, I reduced the amount of light on the bust when I took these new pictures. With luck, it will look less washed out than the original photos above...

    Don Quixote - Finally finished!

Hi guys, Thanks for your feedback. It's much appreciated. These photos are a little washed out so the piece looks a little darker in person. I struggled quite a bit with the skin tones on this one. i was really trying for a sickly, washed out, and pale looking tone so that's why I didn't make...

    Don Quixote - Finally finished!

Well, short of a few things I see in the photos that need touched up, I've finally finished the Don Quixote bust! Here are a couple of photos... For some reason, I had a lot of difficulty painting this piece. Not sure why. there were a couple of areas that were hard to get at...
