Alcock and Brown 100 years Today

Thank you Steve for clearing that up for me . I think I will look out for a reasonably priced Frog kit . Thanks for the reply Chris but a 1/32nd would be to large , I couldn't afford a WNW kit and I will be surprised if a kit is produced as this heroic achievement had hardly any mention , a 30...

Alcock and Brown 100 years Today

A small snippet on the news this morning brought this to my attention . 100 years ago on the 15 June 1919 Alcock and Brown made the first none stop flight across the Atlantic . Leaving St Johns Newfoundland on the 14th June 1919 they made land at Clifden, County Galway , Ireland 15 hours 57...

Felt Protective base - most suitable?

If you are in the UK I would recommend Hobbycraft for felts , they have stores all over the uk and do a good range of felts both plain and self adhesive . I think it would be worthwhile giving the bases you are making a coat of PVA on the base to seal it so the glue from the felt is not absorbed...

    Red Wine

Chile , Argentina and New Zealand seem to be producing the best wines at the moment . At lest as far as my pocket and pallet are concerned . The worst thing I have tried in the last month was an English wine called Straw Hat Special Reserve . One sip and the bottle was poured down the sink . chippy

    140 Years, Rorke's Drift 1879

Carl thank you very much for adding far more interesting to this thread . Nothing was mentioned in the News report about his elderly daughters even attending the premiere let alone walking out of it . The next time I watch the film I will watch it as just a movie not a piece of historical...

    Modern Technology can be Dangers

Last night while out walking my dog around 8 pm I was pass by a jogger wearing head phones selecting tunes on his mobile phone , he didn't even notice that he had forced us into the road . 140 Years, Rorke's Drift 1879

A really interesting fact come up on my Local News program last night about one of the main characters from the film Zulu . Henry Hook , in the film he is portrayed as a idle Cockney drunkard . Where as in fact he was a Gloucester Man from a place called Churcham , a teetotaller and lay preacher...
