Guy, thanks for the review. I have this piece, and it is actually next on my workbench. I think Quang has "done it again" with his museum series, and I look forward to going "mano a mano" with the masters.

I think your painting is excellent. If I may offer a suggestion. I have tried directional lighting on rounds (it works much better on flats!) and I find that unless the viewer can see the light source the colors is misunderstood. I sugggest adding a campfire to the base to "explain" the red hue...

If the putty shows, I'm afraid you're going to have to paint the metal unless you can match the polished shade with paint on the putty - not something I have ever been able to do.
