Inspired by the comic books of my misspent youth, I present to you Turok, Son of Stone: Raptor Ambush.

In the scene we see Andar, in the right foreground has been trapped by a band of raptors, two females, one of whom has been seriously wounded by an arrow, and a red crested male. He has run out of arrows and is preparing to do battle with a rock and his knife which he is pulling from his scabbard. Turok rides in valiantly, prepareing to shoot the second female who is charging him. Will he get his shot off in time? Will he be able to defend from the crouching male about to pounce?

Andar is a repositoned Der Bunte Rock figure, “Stones that Speak.” The spear was cut from his right hand and the arm was moved back to a position where he looks like he is pulling his knife from the sheath. The quiver/bow case is from Andrea and his was relegated to the spares, since is was full. I redid his hair with magic sculpt, since the figure has two long, and IMHO awkward looking, braids hanging down his chest. Turok is an Andrea figure pretty much from the box. I srenghtened the arrow's shaft with a coat of Zap-A-Gap green since the metal was just too soft. The raptors are from Tamiya. I added some fly tying feathers to their arms and legs and to the female heads. The male's crest is Hair-Coat, an oop product painted red. The arrow in the wounded female was part of a photo etchedfeather in the Seil Woodland Indian figure. The boulders and tree are from Armand Bayardi. The dried out shrubs near the boulders are from Military Miniatures Warehouse. The small green shrubs are Woodland Scenics and the grasses are Silfor Buffalo Grass tufts. I found the name plate on-line and resized it to fit a space I left in the ground work, which is Celluclay, ballast, turf material, white glue, brown acrylic paint and just a bit of water.

Al, really creative and fun piece! I was a big fan of Turok when I was a kid. Glad to see I wasn't the only one! :) COOOOOOOL!

Thanks, guys. This was a fun project for a camppaign at Armorama. I'd had the mounted figuire for a long time and couldn't come up wi a good way to use him. Spending a year's worth of figure money on a bunch of other Andrea mounted Indians for a big attack scene didn't seem wise. I tried to find a 54mm running bison with no luck. Then at AMPS East, someone was selling the raptor set and I saw the basic layout in my mind. During the WIP phase, someone at the FSM forum suggested the second figure in the right front and I knew immediately what figure would fit there.

Well? Did he do it? Did he manage to defend from the crouching male about to pounce? Don't keep us in agony?:D
Very nice work my friend!
