I've used their Matt varnish and wasn't pleased with the effect. I found their Matt medium added directly to the mixes was much better but for reds and blues even that wasn't 100% flat. Colin

Nice start Lars. Grey is a challenging colour to work with indeed. I've found a couple of grey swedes in my small library... Sharp looking uniforms! As usual I'll be following your project with great interest! Paint on Colin

Thanks guys... Ask Roger, I've done blue to death ;) As for yellow, I've found a mix for a strong primary yellow that I've gotten comfortable with and result is usually one I'm happy with... not so much when I work with white :( As for landscape references... where I live in Southern Ontario...

Thank you Franceso and Eduardo, I appreciate your kind comments very much! I really didn't dig into the background of the Sardinian army during this time... what was the landscape like in the 1741-47 campaign region? Mountains? Flat? Farmland? Forest? I should have done my homework better...

Hey all Thanks so much for the kind words and support. I wasn't sure how to place him as not knowing his specific regiment I couldn't know where he'd been either. A quick check told me Sardinian forces fought along side the Austrians during the Italian campaigns... great. But where in Italy and...

Thanx Andrew! There was some great reference material offered... nothing seemed to match exactly to the sculpt. At the end of the day I wish I knew what regiment is represented in the original plate. Cheers Colin
