    Tony, go back to your art supply shop,an old style W/N oil colour TURKEY UMBER ,a colour you'll use for ever, if you find a tube, to discribe the colour, you'll just have to see it, then you'll know....worth the hunt..

    hi!..the Dawe, light skin/dark skin, remember the weight of the facial moko will give the apprance of a darker skin tone although l do feel he's a wee on the orange side, perhaps a very thin wash Van Dyke brown, or Raw umber,..mate when you hit on the Moko, best use 70% Van Dyke Brown, 20% Sap...

    Sorry with the slow responce guys in one word, computer!!..the box art for this sculpt posed many an idea, the visual health,the climatic conditions,hard going terrain, bodies rotting with infection, and so on but then there is the artistic look night, sun set, shadows, etc.etc . l painted him...

    Thanks for the good thoughts guys, had a wee trouble with the box art photos,light reflection and wash out,..etc.etc...Having talked with old diggers river and creek crossing was not fun any thing and every thing came down the water ways at a great rate of knots, most of it dead and rotten...
