Here's how a black base would look. I think it ties in with Hamlet's dark thoughts and the "inky cloak" he wears in mourning of his father. Beautiful job on this piece, by the way!

Thanks, Simon. As usual with me, it took awhile but it was worth it. I got it done just in time for my heart ablation procedure this coming Friday!

This needs a few tweaks - though I do need to realize when it's time to stop - but since I got a halfway decent phots I thought I'd post Mr. Strawn at this "nearly done" stage. I wish I had better photography skills; It does look better in person. Here's a video that might give a better idea:
