    First Figure!

Well, here it is--my first 54mm figure--what an experience! I just got a digital camera today & haven't figured out all the features, but I wanted to post this so you guys could see that I actually WAS building a figure, not just talking about it (ha, ha!). I'll post more detail shots...

    Paint it Black

Last night I finally put brush to paint and tried the black formulas recommended by some members of the planet. I am painting a 54mm 'Blade' resin figure by SOL and it's all[/U] black--so I knew I was going to have to mix it up a bit (literally) to make things interesting: Overcoat: (Vallejo...

    Zoot Suit Riots

Once again I am stupefied by the awesome talent 'on the planet'--Bob, you sure tackled an interesting subject. I especially like the guy that is crashing into the trash can! Excellent action going on! I showed these photos to a non-modeling friend and she was amazed (she saw the play 'Zoot Suit'...

    Life or Death - Gladiators

A great scene! I really like the shading on the standing figure and the way you painted the face & eyes--impressive work with the acrylics! :thumb: --linda

    Getting rid of pesky seams?

I just started the 54mm Elite "Spanish Monk, 1230" and noted (with the help of my new Optivisors!) that there is a nasty mold seam running from the top of the head to the hem of the tunic on both sides of the figure. One the last figure I worked on, I tried sanding down this seam with some 820...

    Tsunami

I have heard about a lot of terrible things happen in the world in my 54 years--but this beats all of it because it all happened in a single afternoon! It is a tragedy of the first magnitude & I for one am going to take the money I was going to spend next month on modeling and send it to a...

    Bill's Holiday Project

Horan isn't human! It's hard to believe the amount of quality, imaginative output from one person. I am stupified. And I only looked at his planet gallery!!! --linda

    Looking for Elite Templar Figure

I'm looking for this figure that I saw on Luca Oliveri's website--may be out of production. I think it was made by Elite, but I don't see it listed for sale by anyone who sells their figures. Does anyone out there have one of these unbuilt that would like to part with it? Thanks, Linda

My interpretation of Bill's german tanker

Marijn--I love figures with really dynamic poses--this is a goodie. What scale is it? I look foward to close ups of the face to see the job with Humbrol! --linda

To strip, or not to strip

Point well taken about not stripping it--I thought about it a lot last night while turning the figure around and around in my hand--there is no decent way to backtrack without making a real royal mess of it. I have learned a LOT from the mistakes I made on this one! I now feel free to go ahead...

To strip, or not to strip

Einion--I actually had no choice but to put the cape on because the points where it met the body on the shoulders had such huge gaps I had to putty it! What a job. It was a huge 'what comes first' delemma for me. Also, this figgie's cape has a red underside & a white top--also tricky. The...

To strip, or not to strip

Well, my 64mm "grail knight" is looking like a mess to me. I should have picked a different piece to learn my painting chops on because this figure is too gorgeous to waste! I used Model Master enamels on it and the only part that came out truly well was the chain mail. But the biggest bummer...

    Pepe's Elite Figures

That grass looks terrific--much better than the Woodland Scenics static grass I've been struggling with to make behave! Guy--if you find out where to get this stuff, please let me know!!! --linda

    Getting to first base...

Thanks for the tips, guys! Brian--DUH! I never thought of DRAWING the dio out first--and I'm an artist fer cryin' out loud! But my forte has always been pen & ink drawing, painting--not three dimentional stuff--hard for me to think that way. But I suppose I'll get the hang of it. I have three...

    VIRUS WARNING! VIRUS WARNING!

Now who in the heck has an axe to grind with modelers? Or was it just the random act of a chronic malcontent... :( "CONSTRUCT--NOT DESTRUCT!" :thumb: --linda

    Way of the Cross dio

Bob--Welcome! And might I add: what a stunner of a diorama! I wish I could see it in person--this a marvel of different conversions...(no religious innuendo intended...) I'll look forward to seeing the 'pro' photos--and more of your work. BTW--where did you score the Wrightson vignette...

    I can see clearly now...

Dan--I think there is actually a BULB being made now that simulates the natural light--by Phillips, I think. I'll get more info & let you know. Also, I only intend to use the Optivisor for the details like eyes, buckles, faces--if it get to the point I can't see legs, arms or torsos, I'm packin'...

    Getting to first base...

Now that I have your attention, , I got some great tips via an earlier post I put up asking about where to get bases. I checked S & T out for the short term--now I'm a little confused as how to visulize the right size for the figure (i.e. how do you determine if the top has enough room...
