No problem Martin - your story about the "self-governed, democratic" soldiers councils and their "betrayal" by social democrat Noske nevertheless seems to give just credit to this slogan as your chosen headline of the thread. I guess that I am still allowed to add another view to these...

The stab in the back legend was the later attempt of the German military leadership to deny that the military situation had made peace negotiations necessary and they put the blame of loosing the war on the revolutionarys and politicians. Did they succeed? There were millions of verterans that...

Nobody said "without them we would have won". Typical blindness of ideology.

Translation of some of the above shown "reasonable" demands of the Soldier`s council: 10: Off duty there will be no longer any superior officers 12: Officers that agree to the measures taken by the current soldier`s council are welcome in our midst. The rest has to quit their service without...

AQotWF Reviews and your other WW1 films

IMHO the film falls short in each of the following aspects: Plausible Action, historical correctness and transcription of the story of the novel. Compared to the likewise historical incorrect drama of "The saving of Private Ryan" it is much harder to connect to the personality of the main...

    Mystery helmet disc

Although the view that due to misunderstandings and friendly fire these uniforms were abandoned is widespread I came across a very interesting and different view obviously backed by extensive research: The following information was provided by Ed Walton of Lost Battalions, a supplier of...

WIP Chronos Miniatures Timpani of the Guard Russia 1812

I suggest to use a hairdryer - you can soften the pieces by heating them up and repeat this procedure as often as necessary. Try first with some resin sprue to get a feeling for the proper dose of hot air and the performance of the resin. Cheers Martin

Headwear detail - Von Lossberg Regt -AWI

Here are pictures of a replica of another Hessian Fusilier Regt (Knyphausen). I would suggest that the back of the front plate is covered in the same color and material as the cap. In the case of Regt von Lossberg most probably black cloth.

All Quiet on the Western Front - new movie.

Original Title in English is: "All quiet on the Western Front" and refers to the final climax of the novel when the main character Paul Bäumer is killed in action on a day that was so calm that the daily report of the Military Command told just "all quiet on the Western Front". I am interested...

Although this allegation against the German government is in line with our current narrative about the terrorist action at Munich it is not correct: German law puts the sole power to execute force upon the German government (that means Army and Police). The Police Force with exclusive...

Hi Peter, I agree that my postings might confuse others that don't know about previous actions of Mr. Burton. I further agree that the abscence of postings that back my view is raising doubts about their validity. I have to leave that to the personal decision of affected members and sculptors...

I am sorry Kev, but I have to disagree - moderation should in the first place ensure that the forum guidelines are respected. That was the case with the threads in question. They were not moderated but the content was simply anihilated to the benefit of people that were caught on lying...
