Here is my completed bust of Damian Lewis in his Band of Brothers role of Lt. Dick Winters, Easy Company. Great bust to paint. Almost impossible to believe it isn't a digital rendering.

Photos are slightly yellow due to lighting but you get the idea.

Acrylics and inks.

I'm sure you must have photoshopped a photo of Damian Lewis - I can't believe the standard of painting.

Happy New Year,

Mike

That's amazing Colin! It's hard to imagine it'snot a photograph. I'd die a very happy man if I could paint like that! (y)(y)(y)

Colin, I will send you my cast, ..so you can get it right next time! .. :D

Brilliant work, I love the whole feel and tone to your rendition. .. This is just lovely.

These latest photos are much better Colin.
Can I suggest you bring bust further away from background & set Depth of Field so that it hazes out as you've done in last shots.

Would be cool with black camo paste on but know the trepidation you would have to spoiling what you've achieved so far.

A job well done!

Stay safe

Mike

Thanks Mike. I need to learn how to shoot aperture priority. Still using idiot settings, which is a shame when I now have a nice lens.

I primarily alternate between Depth of Field & FStop to light my photos mate.
Sometimes using Auto White Balance or one of preset light settings for flouro or daylight.
My camera is not as flash as yours.
However with some experimentation you should be able to get progressively better shots.
I find these also help my painting by revealing areas needing attention.

Hope this is is useful too mate?

Happy 2015 & Stay warm,
Mike

Excellent finish Colin... Having followed the SBS I didn't expect anything less of course.

Beautiful painting, and there's nothing wrong with the photography at all.

Look forward to seeing this piece next weekend.

Cheers

Colin
