Hi all just like to show you a future release from TFB Miniatures, it’s a 1/12 bust of a British soldier from WW2 the scene of operations is yet to be decided. The idea is to show the stress of war and the loss of companions.

This is the first sculpt from a new talent we are giving an opportunity to. His name is Juan Perez Machante. Having seen some of his projects he has done as part of his arts degree. We thought we would give him his first commission in the modelling world.

His father is a good friend of ours who has done Box art for us so we know we were getting a talent. This is the first of 3 commissions we have coming from him. We think he’s got off to a good start. The shots below are work in progress and have some wat to go but we thought you might like to see where we are going with it.

Hurrah! A WW2 brit! Juan looks like he might have a real talent!
Looks really promising, but a couple of requests please: can you produce it in a larger scale say 1/9 please and not a desert rat or paratrooper (although probably not your intention given the helmet!) as there are enough of them on the market. Normandy, the campaigns in north west Europe and Italy are poorly represented as are figures wearing the mkIII helmet…..hint ….hint!
Following with real interest.

Hi guys and thank you for your support with this project, Juan is doing his best with it taking onboard what people have said and will keep improving it. We wanted the European campaign to feature with this but Italy would work well too.

We are open to the scale we will see what works with customers. And take it from their I will keep posting the progress on him. It’s just nice to give young talent a chance in the hobby they have to start somewhere.

Agreed!
N

Absolutely agree there

I like the tired look so far

I see this guy as a battle worn barely able to carry his equipment so exhausted , maybe a Bren gunner with the larger pouches ?

Be good if members could perhaps share suitable references on a possible subject

Agree ref no desert rat or para on this one

Following with interest

Wants to try mauling a 90Lb Bergen in Norway with a pair of NATO planks strapped to your hooves.;)

Hi guys thanks for the info will pass it on to Juan. He will appreciate it.

Glad to be back on here

So with a respirator haversack and gas cape rolled on the small pack, I guessing BEF in France leading up to Dunkirk? If so you’ll be competing with a similar bust by Life Miniatures. Shame you couldn’t have gone late 1944/1945 NWE theatre to produce something completely different.

Hi NRG, we left it to our sculpter to come up with what he wanted to do. Yes I’ve seen the life Miniatures Bust (it’s a beautiful piece). But we love the face on this one and the war weary look on his face. I have to admit it’s not our period so we were in the hands of our sculpter.
We are going with it as we like it and it’s had a very good response from our customers so we will see how it goes as it is. But thanks for the heads up on this.

We may do a later version in the future but his next two projects are already locked. They are WW2 and WW1 subjects and both foot figures. So after these we may look at revisiting a British subject.

Found this image

If I may say at moment the torso looks plain adding a arm with a pipe would be good or maybe the bandaged hand

Also have the helmet sitting back more with hair strands showing at the front ...this would highlight the main area the exhaustion on the face
