Hi all,
Here is my attempt at this lovely figure, it is made from resin 1/16 scale and is manufactured dy Bonapartes ( formally Poste Militaria I believe, although I may be wrong )
lovely figure, full of detail and the pose is just stunning, I hope I can do it justice.

Looking forward to seeing this progress. Always liked the look of this figure on Bonaparte’s site and seeing theses pictures has just reinforced that. Looks a great piece.

Hi Malcolm

That's a nice looking model as you say the pose is very good

Details look good , especially the face and lacework on the figure , on the horse do like the movement on the sheepskin

I presume there's a really good metal pin in the horses leg ?

Following this with interest

Happy benchtime

Cheers guys,
Yes there is guide a thick pin going through the front legs
Will keep you updated on the progress

Thank you all.

A very nice piece and an unusual size for Bonapartes who specialize in 90mm.
I will follow this with interest.

I am tempted but I tend to only buy 90mm as I think a uniform scale in the cabinet looks better.

Bill

This biggy will be a great one to follow, your pictures really show this kit off to be a well detailed sharp smooth casting so well done to Bonapartes on the quality, looking forward to watching your progress.

Keep you all posted guys,
Thank you all for the amount of faith you have all put in me, I hope I can do it justice.

Hi all,
A bit of progress, I’m lucky enough to have two weeks off work, so I can spend most of the day at the bench without much distraction, which is nigh on impossible when working, so it’s nice.
Base colours sprayed on using acrylics, then shades added using acrylics again, but the the final shades added with oils, can’t really see them in the photos but they are there.
Gold braiding being done using gold enamel mixed with raw umber oil paint, this allows me to keep the gold colour, but it doesn’t look metallic (Good call Nap, thanks for the tip)

Hi there Malcolm

Hope your enjoy the time off and benchtime

Looking good here if I might say the horse furniature colour looks too dark ...a quick look shows it to be redder ( Osprey say it's scarlet ) ....you might still have work on it to do ...but just my thoughts

Happy benchtime

Cheers guys,
Will give the horse blanket a lighter filter to turn it more scarlet instead of red.
many thanks for the heads up

Busy weekend,
Quite a lot done, having to wait for the oils to dry which I am not really used to as I work mainly in acrylics.
I have given the saddle blanket a few filters to try and change the colour of it, not sure if it has worked yet until it completely dries.
The plan is to let the figure dry all this week and to start work on the horse.
