Hi, A happy new year everyone, long time no posts. :)
I've been working on refreshing my digital sculpting workflow for a while.
Here I wanted to share an example, a sculpt sketch from Italeri's 1/9 German soldier boxart picture.
I did it with my recent workflows configured with ZBrush / Blender / Phrozen sonic mini 4k 3DP.

I just want to share my experiment results so please no "commercial?" questions.
(I already had enough via FB and twitter so just in case)
It won't be commercialized, due to it's a sketch from Italeri boxart copyrights belongs to Itareli.

Thanks a lot for your comment, Adrian.

Yes I totally agree with you, many 'cool' WSS and not so many 'normal' average Joes.
That's what I always thinking about....and I'm thinking I'd do more average Joes, based on the real ww2 pics.
So I've been looking for a real ww2 pics something like this.

Reason why I did this figure is because I just liked the Italeri boxart picture.
I really wanted to have this Italeri figure as a sculpting reference, if Italeri release this as it actually looks like this pics.
But I found out it was the boxart pic for their re-boxed old ESCI figure, not the new tool kit.
So...that's why I sculpted this by myself from scratch, as a standard gauge / sculpting reference figure.

Fantastic sculpting and printing Kaz, it is a shame that Esci did not achieve this likeness with the original figure, the figure in the box was nothing close to the artwork in quality.
Did you use manual or auto supports in Chitubox?
Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve. Yes, I totally agree with you, and what I really feel shame is Itareli has just reboxed ESCI one, not new tools.
About Chitubox, I use auto supoprts first, and then add some supports manually to enforce the strength.

Great work and I agree shame it's only a practice piece.

captnenglish, thanks a lot for yoiur compliments, I'm glad. and I will consider the original, something similar to this.

I agree Italeri had a great opportunity to make this a nice new figure, shame they just re-boxed the original. Thanks for the info on the supports.
Cheers

Lovely figure... Just one stupid question... Have you asked Italari, as they hold the rights to the picture if they would grant you permission to release the figure..

Smithy
No, I haven’t asked about the copyrights of the picture.
But I sent this picture to them and asked if they are interested in my work data to make it commercial. (instead of old ESCI one)
Their answer was “ not interested in your suggestion” or something like that.
I knew it from the start they would say so though. I just wanted to test it out.

And, then I thought they would probably say no to give me the permission to release mine.
I haven’t asked that but just my thoughts.

HNY to you too Nap, and thanks a lot for your comment.
I think I should sculpt something similar to this one with “copyright-free”.

Hi Kaz, my next stupid question is, how much would you need to alter the figure to prevent a breach of copyright...
Not trying to be an arse here, but is there any copyright on a pose? Sure, if you’re trying to pass your work off as Italeri, or use their work to promote your product, I get that. Not copying a pose, I’ve a few Jeff Shiu German paras in 1/16 scale that are scaled up Dragon figures, and no one has raised copyright issues. And from what I’ve heard, if as little as 10% is different, then copyright does not apply.

If your going to do another 1/9, any of these poses would be great "for me" ............just saying shhhh
