Hello,

my name is John and I am new to figure painting. My main target so far was modelling AFV, mostly German WOII.
I tried this figure and put it on a simpel base. I hope you like it. Comments are more than welcome. Remember this is my first one!

greeting John.

Welcome to the Planet, I like the figure, painting looks good. The 5 o"clock shadow looks a little harsh, but it works for this figure for me. I am not a medel winner on painting but I like it.

Nice John

The leather effects are great. You have managed to get the shadows in very well also. Is the face done in oils? Great work, thanks for sharing.

Well well, everyone seems to like it;)
Very nice!

My next figure is a classis of Verlinden, in 120mm a fat German MG42 gunner smoking a cigarette. I'm putting him near a Nebelwerfer in big scale also.

Back to this figure:
The leather effects, i have created by painting te holsters with alkyd paints. When the paint was 95% dry I wiped or scratched it with my brush very, very gently to get some scratches as if the leather is worn or slightly damaged. It being rather stiff leather of course.

The face was painted in Alkyds to.
Most of the uniform etc was painted in acryls from Lifecolor. I like the german uniform sets I ad II.

I will post a few close-ups soon.

Greetings John.

John, welcome, you found your way to this forum as well (he's a fellow member of TWENOT)
Watch this guy fellow members, for he has learned a lot in his first attempt and I think he's got a lot of potential.
So John my hope is you'll be able to push the bar higher with the help of the fine artists that gather here.
Have fun...

Willem

Well Wim, you give me too much credit here:eek::eek:

Nevertheless here are a few more close-ups as promised of this splendid figure from Alpine. The wintercoat has a rabbit fur. I have tried to simulate the fur using my references.

greetings from Holland, John.

Wow... excellent work on the figure.

Love the way you painted the eyes to
look side way. I think a small thing
like this adds a lot to the whole piece.
:)
