This is the latest work from today, which was interrupted by a family phone call, hence the scrappy appearance of the putty. I am aiming to build a running crewman, with a rather impressive musculature. He will be decked out in pea pattern trousers and a half open, flapping undershirt. The right arm will be connected to a large mass, maybe an MG34 or a bucket full of liquid, with the left arm helping with balance. The rest of the shoulder area will be completed tomorrow, and the abdomen fully sculpted, as this area will be visible. The head and hands will be from Hornet. Comments always welcome.

Here is a photo of the headset, linked from Colorado Miniatures, no. 4.

Cheers Dan.

I had a look at the proportions and the anatomy after the head was chosen, and decided to alter a couple of things. Here are some shots of the latest work.

I will smooth out the abdominals tomorrow and start on the arms and right calf muscles. As you can see, the back is a little smoother, but still needs a bit of definition. Hopefully I can get the Magic Sculpt thin enough to keep the definition below.

The figure looks good so far.
The head is a bit too small for
the rest of the body...
Also, if you make the body looking
like a body builder, you might end
up with a large and bulky looking
body after adding uniforms.

Hey Taesung,

thanks for the comments, I have to agree on the strange proportions, but that is what I intended. When the vignette is finished, you will see why I chose a superhuman. Besides, I can't sculpt a head yet, so all I have is Hornet to help me out. But the experience has made me want to start on a more slimline figure today. Here is the idea from Herbert Walthers 12. SS HJ book:

I figure if I keep trying different poses and body types, I will eventually get a decent figure built.

Thanks for your "progress" photos. It will be interesting to follow this project!
