Tony, thanks for responding a second time
Tony:
Oh my, sir. . . you are a class individual. I do so appreciate you taking time
to reply to this discussion for the second time. And again, you are right on
the money in my opinion. And I know that Chippy, Gordon would agree.
Again, thank you, Tony for your worthy comments.
I will go a little further with this discussion, since it has become, hopefully,
interesting to novice modelers, at least. The main reason I picked that
Tamiya WWII French Infantry set was because it was a subject that just isn't
available out there that much. As I indicated previously, I really try to do
subject that are not popular, and do them in a way that is different. I'm not
sure why I feel that way. But I want to explore areas that most artists do not
try. Subject matter that isn't Wehrmacht WWII catches my attention more
often. And that is one of the main reasons I sprang for the Tamiya set in
the first place. I knew the quality would not be good. And then the project
just kind of snowballed.
Of course, I wish we would see some 1:35th scale high quality figures for
ACW, English Civil War/Crowmwell period, WWI figures of Austrians, etc.
etc. But that is not going to happen any time soon, as I see it. Because
the companies who roll the dice and release figures need to make a profit,
or they are out of business. So it is going to be 1:35th Wehrmacht for some
time yet, as I see it. Not being a sculptor keeps me from just creating my
own 1:35th figure from the period I want, as so many of the really fine
artist here do. But. . . all in all, I am having a great time and get a lot of
fun out of this hobby. And I want to say sincerely, how much I do
appreciate and enjoy the good relationships with class people, like my
fellow Planeteers, that are here on Planet Figure.
