Hi guys

Here are the latest pics of my SAS Trooper. Lots more work has been done on the weathering in an attempt to recreate the look of a man who has been wearing the same clothes in the jungle for 2 weeks. Although the mud and dirt does hide some of the painting underneath, at least I know its there. ;)

I hope you like it, and I look forward to any comments/ criticisms.:)

GREAT JOB, Tony !!!!

Hi Tony !
The final result looks SUPERB, Tony !!!! WELL DONE :D ! One question : the lighting for the photos looks a little too bright, such that it washes out the colours that you had placed on the figure. Perhaps a little less brightness  ? All in all, a GREAT JOB ! Cheers !
Kenneth :).

Kenneth,

Thanks mate, I agree. I'm actually in the process of setting up to do another shoot with less lighting. I agree that the brightness tends to wash out some of the colours. I'll try to do better.

I'm glad you like him. Thanks for your comments.

cheers

Darker Pics

Here's some more, with less light.

Cheers

Hi Tony,

really top-class painting! I like the dirt on him, the way the camo colors come through is superb!
Please, allow me one small cirticism: I think the engraved camo clashes with the hyper-real outlook of the figure.

Thanks
Denes

Excellent work Tony, great painting of the eyes!
He looks a bit dirty. ;)
My compliments with this great result.

Chris, Andreas, Stephen, Denes and Marcel - thanks everyone for your comments.

Denes - I agree that the sculpted camouflage does present a real problem for a painter to overcome. To be fair, the piece was not sculpted with painting in mind. I've done my best to minimise the sculpted camouflage by adding mud, but there is nothing you can do to totally eliminate these lines unless you fill them in before priming. From a distance these lines are not so obvious.

Cheers

Hey Tony that is simply amazing :)

Keep up the good work and the face is awesome :);)

Tony,

yes, I remember you mentioning that is actually a bronze statue - not a usual material for our hobby - and not ment to be painted.
Anyhow, your way of painting it 'real' opposes with figures painted with 'artistic license', I really appreciate that, because there is way less from the 'real' stuff. Not to be misunderstood, I truely enjoy both schools, but for my personal taste, missing the balance.

Thanks
Denes
