Hi Tony

Very productive session there , like the colour of the shirt and the use of that chisel brush worked nicely

Looking at the 5o'clock shadow if I may are you able to make the edges a little less distinct on the cheeks ...just a thought

Certainly going to be a lovely piece when finished , looking forward to the webbing as well as your hat

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Thanks Keith, Nap and Chris, getting there slowly fellas.

Here’s the first pic of the resculpted hat, now in the shape of a “lemon squeezer “.

I’ll reshape and resculpt the pugaree and add the hat badge before I prime and paint the hat.

Hi Tony

Like the way this is going , nice work on the shirt with the oils working well on flesh , eyes look good as well

Great to hear the mojo is flowing more ...long may it continue

The hat looks a great shape

Look forward to the webbing

Happy benchtime

Great subject Tony and like the changes with the hat to add that personal touch. Did you stipple the 5 o’clock shadow or is it individual dots? Flesh and shirt are looking really well with the addition of the oils.

Thanks Nap, I’ve made a bit more progress since then and will share some more WIP pics when I’m happy with the webbing. The hat has come out great, better than I imagined.

Hi Neal, thanks for your comments mate. 5 o’clock shadow was a combination of individual dots and a bit of stifling using dark brown, dark grey and black. I then went over with my flesh colour to tone the colours down and help blend the edges.

That's a nice piece of work on the lemon squeezer, spot on.
The painting on the bust is really good, impressive work on the webbing and shirt. A big well done from me.

Hi Tony

That looks really good great idea to do a NZ , the lemon squeezer looks a good shaping and I like the flash of colour

Particularly like the painting on the webbing and them shirt colour

Look forward to final bits and bobs

Thanks for sharing the SBS ...the mojo is back !

Look forward to your next project

Happy benchtime

Thanks for your constant support Nap.

These are the final pics. I’ve added oil washes to the webbing and some sweat stains to the shirt.

It’s not my best piece, but it was a fun project and I’m glad I pushed myself to do the conversion of the hat.

Overall I’m pleased with the final result.

Thanks to everyone who liked and commented on my thread.

Good on ya Tony doing this one mate.
Neat seeing you tackle that lemon squeezer & know how difficult to get it done as struggling with one myself at present.
Like wet sweaty effect you’ve managed to get on his shirt.
All in all another important ANZAC project landed!
What’s next?

Hi Tony

Thanks for sharing the completed piece ...I would be proud to have that on display

The work on the shirt looks really effective and the conversion has added a new dimension to the model

Must comment on the webbing again nice texture

It's been a pleasure to follow if I might ask permission to save the pics for my bust files

Like Mike I ask ...."What's next"

Happy benchtime
