1/9th Royal Navy Falklands. Pavol Ovecka & Mike Wilkinson

Hello Folks

The senior service seems to be not as prolific in our hobby as the land forces and with this in mind I have just completed a new project with a Royal Navy theme.

The orginal bust in 1/9th was sculpted by Pavol Ovecka who came up with the idea based on a Falklands memorial print. It depicts a Royal Navy sailor in the reverese arms position from HMS Clyde.
Mike Wilkinson has converted the original bust into a full figure version. The headgear shows HMS Clyde on the band which can be altered by the modeller to represent other Royal Navy vessels. A resin casting of the South Atlantic medal is included.

Very moving piece; worked for the Navy, visited the Falklands three times. brother in law served on HMS Plymouth during the conflict.

I've just realised that because he has a reversed SLR, his medals as shown on the coloured illustration are wrong. He should not have the Afghanistan and Diamond Jubillee medals but the GSM and Falklands Medals.

You obviously sculpted using the picture shown here , not that difficult to sort out IMO

Just a thought are the badges suitable as well ?

I don't know, but as you couldn't do a reverse arms with a SA80 perhaps SLR's are issued for occasions that require this drill.
