This is my impression of an officer of Oldenburgisches Dragoner-Rgt. Nr. 19 in late 1914. The figure is built pretty much stock, with the exception of adding the Oldenburg crest on the helmet wappen and adding the "crown A" cyphers on the shoulder boards. Hope you enjoy.

Good paintiing job, Dave ! (y) I like the skintones and the face especially, it is very well painted. Oils or acryls ?

I have always liked this Derek Hansen figure, but it's about the most elusive figure kit I know of  ; never found one in the shops etc. overhere, and now it seems to be gone... :(

Hey Dave,

I too have this kit and have always been tempted to start it but just never have. I think you have done a really nice job. I too like the skin tones.

Just a side note, Mike Stelzel and I went on a visit to the South Carolina State Museum and there was a special exhibit of paintings and I happen to spot this one and never knew that this was were idea for this figure came from.

Dave you did an excellent job on the coat and the face. Looks really great.

Thanks all for the comments.

I also had been looking for this figure for a long time. I actually found the it on e-bay a couple of years ago for about $30. Keep on looking; they are out there.

Johan and Stephen:

I use a mixture of Pactra enamels and a small amount of burnt sienna oil paint together for my faces. I mix a lot of my enamel and oil paints together, depending on the finish or the amount of blending I'm trying to achieve.

Dan:

I agree. A vignette with the Belgian waif, his mother and the dragoon would be pretty interesting...

Regards

Dave
