I have asked a number of people, (but not our Gra) for two etched frets.
1 a fret of sword blades in a three layered format so when sandwched up they would be spot on.
the set to be light and heavy cavalry pattern.
2 a fret of hearts grenades fleurs de lys and numbers for the ornamentation .
with the exception of Nap, every other modeller of this period would use turnback ornaments over time! ;) :).

Many thanks for this thread being brought up, I was shocked as new pieces come often but it's a great piece.
Ref the sabretache, it started as a 7th hussar but after seeing loads of images, all conflicting , it seemed best to just make a generic with a eagle, which the 1st had, that way any laurels specific to regiments can be added but with minimal changing of the piece.

I fully agree in metal, to the point I pay several hundred on moulds for my busts to have metal bits. I am considering a range of sword blades in metal to be available to replace all commercial kits. But, a mould if filled with swords would cost £300, then spins and metal costs. People won't pay more than £15 for a set of 10 blades, do I go all same scale per set, generic sets 54,75,90,120. I can make the blades buts it's a thing I would want but wonder in today's age, do people really worry if the piece is cheap enough?

With my busts it only puts a pound on the kit but it's a little harder if selling sword blades as sets alone, would they sell and I am honestly asking.
My best wishes
Graham

Hi Gra.
It is my earnest hope that etched blades with their realistic scake thickness would be popular.

No one in our part of the model hobby has ever produced accessories to the extent that armour and aircraft modellers enjoy, and that is an enormous market.
I am sure that if someone produced white metal cap badges we would buy them to embellish bases or add extra detail to figures... we have all read threads that say....
"I changed the figure to represent me dad who was in Cyprus" etc.

There is a call for more robust blades on weapons, and if they were etched rather than w/m, would the set up cost be any lower?

Using your catalogue as an example I was trying to think what else could go on a fret to make it sell.
If such an item was available I would happily spend a
week replacing resin blades for metal ones amongst the finished ones in the cabinet.

With regard to scale I would have thought you should probably just cater for your own range and scale.

I have no idea how saleable these would be, but If I could etch at home, I would have made some patterns already.

I have to agree with Paul ( God that hurt).
But When you buy a quality figure I for one
wouldn't object to paying extra for quality swords etc.
A fret with swords, badges, numbers, heraldry and sword belts and strapping.
But only you mate can say if its
a viable product for you to sell

Thanks Paul and Mick, I have considered it for some time and as you say it's worth considering adding some more pieces if possible. I agree Paul, starting with my own range scales is a very good start. I will put my thinking cap on, the other option is to combine the mould when I get other pieces done but it would mean that I have limited sets at a time. Thanks to you both for feedback . Best wishes
